DHS is not helping people to get housing for the people who are self sufficient. To the people who received housing, they have drugs problems, take prescription medication, pick and choose who they want to get housing, and they come back to the shelter. There's no law required under the Constitution that a person need a birth certificate or a society security card to get housing. This is how the landlords, well so-called landlords, management of the buildings that people live in, make billion's dollars off of tenants not knowing there rights. Did you know and I'm sure that you all are aware that it's a crime for a employer or management to use someone else social security number without there consent. You can go to jail behind that all management in housing know it. It's a bill that's law, but no one ever put inside the office where people can see it. You all already committed a crime for every tenants that you have in your buildings. People who read this should file a law suit against management of the buildings who are trying to get tenants out. You all owe tenants more, because they pay for luxury cars and nice homes. HRA need to look at what's going on with DHS immediately. Why people haven't got a home in 5 years, 10 years you going to get into a fight after being in the shelter for so long. And getting into a fight at the shelter affect people chances to get housing. And just in case you delete this message. I will repost and send it to other people for the record. You know better do better, y'all violated the people in a big way, and now y'all want more money from the people, and y'all not helping the people who been here the longest that need it. Check the people who been in homeless shelter for for more then three years and up. You will see that DHS ain't doing shit. Because this how they get paid. The more people they have here in the shelter the more they get paid for each bed a day. If you not going to help the people I pray that you all be in the same position that we all are in right now.

In my opinion it’s not a „gift“ they’ve got. It’s a mental illness that changes the perception, telling them that a certain type of behavior is correct even tho it’s not. Maybe it’s through loss, loneliness or trauma, or all of it together, it changes a person to retreat ein their own world, where value is represented by attached feelings they have to objects. It changes the core „attachment“ style of a person, that’s why it is so hard to get rid of it. The person has to not only be treated for the why but also integrated into reality again

Most definitely I have always been puzzled by my need to see things and hang things on hooks.. put them in clear plastic bags.. and the worst part is I have to get for example all of the 300 shoes together in one spot, (shut up that's only 150 pairs, lol) but I don't want to throw anything away until I see everything that I have so I can decide what I want to keep the most. After that I don't have a problem throwing stuff away. I have to laugh and I usually get other people to laugh at it too because it's funny it kind of break the ice.... I am not some fasion Queen not materialistic but I do know but I can't afford to buy anyting now that I'm disabled. And it's hysterical because I will hold onto one shoe for six months because I'm waiting for the pair to it. And as soon as I realized okay I must have thrown it out and I get rid of the one I'm holding onto... Guess what happens???? Of course, Murphy's law. I find the other one and it happens to be the coolest pair of black boots that I will ever come across only now it's just one black boot. Since I was trying to be a good girl and throw the other one away. I wonder how many people go through this

The Annual Conferences are for me reminiscent of the non-profit sector in the 1970s to 1990s in New York State, and similarly around the Nation. This party moved to the university sector before supportive/ed housing existed in the US, taking her mid-career housing and community development degree from Maxwell over to the NGOs associated with the education sectors. We began new specialties in community living (degreed programs) as deinstitutionalization (transfer of personnel and resources from institutions into the community) became instead the development of community programs in the US. This party also began the Nation's first housing for individuals with severe disabilities, with leadership through the International Association of Persons with Severe Handicaps. We wish the "providing sector" best wishes in the challenging 21st Century, and trust that there will be "no more homelessness" which supportive/ed housing was designed to address in the field of "mental health". We particularly thanked Paul J. Carling for his academic work in that area which has been followed by decades of academics, and invited leadership to the American Society for Public Administration in 2012-2018. Wow, I now see Supportive Housing in a new light! It really changes lives. Homelessness is considered to be one of the most "Traumatic" experience that one can be faced with. I agree! Homelessness is traumatic. People experiencing homelessness often live with a multitude of personal challenges, such as the sudden loss of a home or adjusting to conditions of shelter life. Supportive Housing is a great start to combat Homelessness. This video just elevated my purpose in life. I would like to help put an end to Homelessness. The smile Mr. Broome's face is priceless, and Yes a Write's Club sounds like a great idea. Please keep us posted on how to join. I will call and check the S:US website for more info too.

FEMALE CUCS STAFF & CLIENTS SEXUALLY ATTACKED & NO ACTION TAKEN Jun 8, 2018 "Great team, but ultimately left due to safety concerns" Former Employee - Anonymous Employee Doesn't Recommend Negative Outlook Disapproves of CEO I worked at Center for Urban Community Service (CUCS) full-time for more than 2 years Pros Tight-knit team. Case workers and social workers really care about the work they do. Impactful mission. Cons Two case workers on my team were sexually assaulted by clients within two months of each other (with one occurring in our own building) and management had no response or changes put into effect. The offending clients were kept on caseload. When I approached my superiors about my concerns for safety, I was told “this is the way things are” and “we can’t keep you safe 1000% of the time”. With that response, I knew they were not invested in staff safety and was not going to wait around for another incident to occur. Show Less Advice to Management Take a hard look at your protocol, particularly allowing staff to transport/visit clients in the community without another staff member present. Not everything can be controlled, but when an incident does happen, provide appropriate training and support to staff, and change your protocol with safety in mind. You will lose good people who are passionate about the cause of you keep going in the current direction.
